WHAT:
The Future STARS program is a young player’s initial opportunity to venture into the world of competitive soccer.  Future STARS is for that player who has the desire to further develop their existing skills in a more ambitious environment.  Core soccer fundamentals are taught, players are challenged and creative play is encouraged.  Each week, an area of concentration is the focus and that week’s game that follows will highlight this new skill.  The program includes Fall, Winter and Spring sessions coached by an experienced soccer professional.  A player may choose to play on their recreational team while also participating with Future STARS or they may choose only to participate in the Future STARS program.  Practices and games for Future STARS do not conflict with schedules for recreational teams or the Academy program (see note on the Academy below).

WHO:  Players in the 1st and 2nd Grade

WHEN:  The Future STARS program closely models a true competitive soccer schedule for practices and games.  Fall (Aug/Sept/Oct) and Spring (Mar/Apr/May) outdoor seasons include one practice and one Sunday game per week.  During the Winter (Jan/Feb) indoor season, skill development continues through small-sided Futsal training with one Sunday session per week that includes approximately 20 minutes of practice directly followed by a game.Park Soccer Complex – training facility of the Blue Valley Soccer Club.  Winter sessions are held at one of three indoor Futsal facilities in the area.

WHY:  Future STARS is designed to transition a young player from a recreational program with a volunteer coach and a team of varied soccer skill levels to a competitive program with a professional coach with teammates more aligned in skill level.  It is also designed to give the soccer player and family a clearer view of the commitment and skill level associated with the competitive game.

On a side note, a Future STARS player who wants additional soccer instruction is encouraged to join the Fall and/or Spring sessions of the Academy.  Please click here for more information on the Academy.
