BVSC PROGRAMS
RECREATIONAL PROGRAMMING
The BVSC offers Recreational programming for children ages Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade. Recreational teams are typically formed by school.
The program is specifically designed to emphasize fun, fitness and the development of fundamentals while building character and teaching the value of teamwork. Players develop individual techniques at their own pace through progression based training sessions and a variety of fun games. The focus of the program is not about winning or losing but fostering a sense of team work and camaraderie while balancing the need for all participants to develop physically, mentally and emotionally.
All coaches are volunteers. Recreational players participate in fall and spring league play either through our In House League (Pre-K to 2nd grade) or as part of the Heartland Soccer Association League,(3rd grade and above).
Fall and spring coach volunteers in our Kindergarten through 2nd grade are led through a one night training program given by our Technical Staff. This training and the coaching manual are given to help them understand how to assimilate their players to the game of soccer. Each manual contains 20 progressively based lesson plans for their teams to use throughout their specific grade year.
BVSC offers all volunteer coaches/teams, 2nd grade and older, the opportunity to partner with a Club Certified Team Trainer. Experienced soccer professionals work with teams at their assigned training time. This assists volunteer coaches in determining training style and teaches players and coaches alike proper skill development techniques.
Fall registration begins in April each year.
Spring registration begins in November each year.
COMPETITIVE PROGRAMMING
In 1995, the BVSC saw the need to establish a competitive branch of programming as an option for those players who may have outgrown the recreational program.
Players wishing to play in a competitive environment continue to participate in progression based training, but do so under the tutelage of an experienced soccer professional.
While the aspects of teamwork and camaradie remain an intregal part of our competitive programming the main focus centers more on player development. For the competitive player this is essential to long-term growth and improvement. In a competitive environment, player development demands that “the player is central” to all decisions made regarding training and competition.
STARS players practice twice per week and participate in fall and spring league play through Heartland Soccer Association. They may compete in tournaments during the fall or spring season, but rarely go farther than 4 hours away with most tournaments being local unless a player is on a highly competitive team. In addition, STARS players participate from November through February in the developmental game of FUTSAL .
The STARS is a “tryout” program and players are placed on teams with others of like ability in order to stimulate growth of skills without frustration.
Tryouts are held beginning the 2nd Saturday of June and a Parent Meeting is held the last Saturday in June each year.
Competitive players must be present at a tryout in order to be considered for a team.
BVSC ACADEMY
One of our most popular out of league programs, the Academy is a fundamental skill development for all players ages 5 to 12.
This program is designed to take place in the Fall and Spring each year for 8 weeks as a supplemental training program for any recreational or competitive player wishing to improve their game. Players are taught a variety of fundamental skill sets which are applied during an end of session scrimmage each week.
Coaches are experienced soccer professionals.
Each new player receives an Academy uniform kit: socks, shirt, shorts, sac pac and a BVSC ball.
BVSC FUTURE STARS
The Future STARS program is designed for players in 1st or 2nd grade who wish to continue their development as soccer players in concentrated sessions designed to teach core fundamentals and challenge and inspire creativity of play.
This program includes fall and spring outdoor games AND winter programming. During the outdoor seasons, one practice and one game per week will occur. Each week’s game revolves around the area of concentration for that week continuing to build confidence and skill.
During the winter season training occurs one day per week in the months of Jan-Feb as a combination of skill development and a small sided FUTSAL game.
Players in the age group require a unique training focus which includes fun and fundamentals. The Future STARS offers players versatility. Players can choose to play ONLY on a Future STARS team OR they can elect to play BOTH for their recreational team AND a Future STARS team.
BVSC SUMMER CAMPS
Premier Camp
Premier Soccer Camps are focused on introducing new players to competitive soccer and helping existing STARS or competitive players prepare for tryouts.
These camps are intense 90 minute training sessions with a focus on specific technical and tactical training. Our player to coach ratio creates a team environment so that players are taken through a progressive gender specific training session each day.
Recreational Camps
Recreational Soccer Camps are focused on introducing new players to the game of soccer and helping existing players sharpen their basic skills. These camps are 2.5 hour training sessions with a focus on the fundamentals of dribbling, shooting, passing, receiving and juggling. Each session will consist of a fun warm-up, individual skill development and finish with a variety of fun games.
Team Camps
We recognize that many of our recreational coaching volunteers would like the opportunity to learn and grow with their team. New in 2010 is our Team Camp! Team camps will help coaches and team members prepare for the upcoming season in a positive, fun environment.
